1 House Resolution
2 A resolution honoring the Glades Central High
3 School Raiders, winners of the 1999 State Class
4 3A High School Football Championship.

6 WHEREAS, in December 1999, the Glades Central High
7 School Raiders made their third consecutive appearance in the
8 State Class 3A high school football finals, and captured the
9 1999 State Class 3A High School Football Championship by
10 defeating Live Oak-Suwannee High School 37-22 at Ben Hill
11 Griffin Stadium in Gainesville, and
12 WHEREAS, in winning the 1999 State Class 3A title, the
13 Glades Central High Raiders not only closed out an undefeated
14 season, but won their fourth state title, and achieved
15 back-to-back state championships for the second time in the
16 school's career, and
17 WHEREAS, besides being the second consecutive state
18 title for Glades Central, the victory over Live Oak-Suwannee
19 gave the Raiders a 20-game winning streak, the longest active
20 winning streak in the state, and
21 WHEREAS, among the many impressive statistics that
22 Glades Central High School has compiled is their total of 111
23 victories in the 1990's, a total that makes them one of only
24 five teams in the state with at least 100 wins in the decade,
25 and
26 WHEREAS, the Raiders have scored a total of 987 points
27 in 2 years, an average of 34 points per game, while allowing
28 opponents a total of only 318 points, an average of 10.9
29 points per game, and
30 WHEREAS, the impressive accomplishments of the Glades
31 Central High Raiders football teams of 1998 and 1999 have

1 placed Glades Central High School in an elite category of high
2 school football teams in the state, and
3 WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Glades
4 Central High School Raiders be acknowledged for their
5 outstanding 1999 regular season, for their 1999 postseason
6 championship, and for achieving their second back-to-back
7 state titles, NOW, THEREFORE,

9 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
10 Florida:

12 That the House of Representatives of the State of
13 Florida hereby recognizes the Glades Central High School
14 Raiders, winners of the 1999 State Class 3A High School
15 Football Championship.
16 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution
17 be presented to Milton Watson, Head Coach of the Glades
18 Central High School Raiders, to the assistant coaches, and to
19 each member of the Glades Central High School football team.
