  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring the Lakeland High School

  3         Dreadnaughts football team.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, on Friday, December 17, 1999, at the

  6  University of Florida's Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in

  7  Gainesville, the Lakeland High School Dreadnaughts won the

  8  1999 Class 5A State High School Football Championship by

  9  defeating the Springfield Rutherford High School Rams by a

10  score of 45-12, thus earning the third state football title

11  for the Dreadnaughts and the third in Coach Bill Castle's 24

12  years as a head football coach, and

13         WHEREAS, the Dreadnaughts posted a 15-0 record for the

14  1999 season and are currently tied for the state record of 46

15  consecutive regular-season victories, and

16         WHEREAS, the team is number 6 in the USA Today Super 25

17  high school football rankings, number 1 in the Gatorade Top

18  25, and overall state champions, and

19         WHEREAS, the 1999 Class 5A State High School Football

20  Championship was a total team effort, reflecting a season of

21  dedicated practice and contributions by all members of the

22  team, Head Coach Bill Castle, and his assistant coaches, NOW,

23  THEREFORE,

25  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

26  Florida:

28         That the Florida House of Representatives joins the

29  citizens of Lakeland in congratulating each member of the

30  Lakeland High School Dreadnaught football team, Head Coach

31  Bill Castle, and his assistants, Bill Galloway, Clay Taylor,

  1  Skip Richey, Tom Short, Fred Lopez, Shannon Arnett, and Bob

  2  Leitner, for their accomplishments in winning the 1999 Class

  3  5A State High School Football Championship.

  4         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  5  be presented to Coach Bill Castle, the assistant football

  6  coaches, Principal Mark Thomas, Athletic Director Sid

  7  Kimbrell, and each member of the Lakeland High School

  8  Dreadnaught football team as a tangible token of the

  9  sentiments expressed herein.
