19 Section 4. Youth Custody Officer.--
20 (1) There is created within the Department of Juvenile
21 Justice the position of youth custody officer. The purpose of
22 the youth custody officer is to take youth into custody if the
23 officer has probable cause to believe that the youth has
24 violated the conditions of probation, home detention,
25 conditional release or post-commitment probation, or has
26 probable cause to believe that the youth has failed to appear
27 in court, after being properly noticed. The authority of
28 youth custody officers to take youth into custody is
29 specifically limited to this purpose.
30 (2) A youth custody officer shall meet the minimum
31 qualifications for employment or appointment and be certified

1 pursuant to chapter 943, and shall maintain the requirements
2 for continued employment required by s. 943.135. The
3 Department of Juvenile Justice must comply with the
4 responsibilities provided for an employing agency under s.
5 943.133 for each youth custody officer.
6 (3) Youth custody officers shall keep appropriate
7 local law enforcement agencies apprised of their activities
8 under this section.

15 bill: all of said lines
