  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing CountyWatch.

  3

  4         WHEREAS, CountyWatch was founded in 1992 as the

  5  Citizens for Representative Government to be a nonpartisan

  6  citizen watchdog group, organized to guarantee government

  7  accountability in Orange County, and

  8         WHEREAS, the purposes of CountyWatch are to promote

  9  open and accountable government in Orange County, to address

10  issues of countywide concern, and to serve as a multipartisan

11  forum to address issues of campaign ethics and practices as

12  well as other issues impacting the political process, and in

13  order to facilitate these purposes, CountyWatch publishes

14  citizen plans known as Gateway reports to inform elected

15  officials and candidates of policies important to the citizens

16  of Orange County, and

17         WHEREAS, under the leadership of 1999-2000 officers

18  Dolores Ciaponi, Lew Oliver, Doug Head, Carol Foglesong, and

19  William Peters; and under its 1999-2000 executive committee

20  members Fran Pignone, Lou Treadway, and Robert E. Spears,

21  CountyWatch has flourished, and

22         WHEREAS, the vigilance of CountyWatch has improved the

23  openness, responsiveness, and accessibility of government in

24  Orange County, and ensures that the concerns of citizens be

25  heard, and

26         WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the Florida

27  House of Representatives recognize CountyWatch for years of

28  service to the citizens of Orange County, NOW, THEREFORE,

30  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

31  Florida:

  1         That the House of Representatives recognizes and

  2  commends CountyWatch, its officers, executive committee, and

  3  members, for their efforts toward bettering the lives of the

  4  citizens of Orange County.

  5         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  6  be presented to Dolores Ciaponi, Chairman of CountyWatch, as a

  7  tangible token of the sentiments expressed herein.
