  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring the veterans of the

  3         Korean War on the 50th Anniversary of the war.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Korean War, stemming from Communist

  6  aggression by the North Koreans into South Korea, lasted from

  7  June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953, and

  8         WHEREAS, during that 37-month period 33,651 of the more

  9  than 54,000 Americans who died were killed in action, 103,000

10  Americans were wounded, 8,177 were missing in action, and

11  7,000 were made prisoners of war, and

12         WHEREAS, Congress has authorized the Department of

13  Defense to organize the United States' 50th Anniversary of the

14  Korean War Commemoration to ensure that Korean War veterans

15  and their families know a grateful nation remembers their

16  service and sacrifice, NOW, THEREFORE,

18  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

19  Florida:

21         That the House of Representatives recognizes and gives

22  thanks to the veterans of the Korean War and their families,

23  on the 50th Anniversary of the war, for their service and

24  sacrifice in the cause of freedom.
