  1              Senate Concurrent Resolution No.     

  2         A concurrent resolution confirming the

  3         appointment of William Oliver Monroe to the

  4         position of Auditor General.

  5

  6         WHEREAS, Section 2, Article III, State Constitution, as

  7  revised and amended in 1968 requires the Legislature to

  8  appoint an auditor to serve at its pleasure, and

  9         WHEREAS, by enacting chapter 69-82, Laws of Florida,

10  the Legislature exercised that appointment by designating the

11  Auditor General chosen pursuant to section 11.42, Florida

12  Statutes, as the constitutional auditor mentioned in Section

13  2, Article III of the State Constitution, and

14         WHEREAS, the Joint Legislative Auditing Committee

15  appointed William Oliver Monroe to the position of Auditor

16  General on December 7, 1999, and

17         WHEREAS, section 11.42, Florida Statutes, provides that

18  the appointment of the Auditor General must be confirmed by

19  the Senate and the House of Representatives, NOW, THEREFORE,

20

21  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida, the

22  House of Representatives Concurring:

24         That the appointment of William Oliver Monroe to the

25  position of Auditor General by the Joint Legislative Auditing

26  Committee under section 11.42, Florida Statutes, is confirmed.
