  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring the Alexander Muss High

  3         School in Israel.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, the Alexander Muss High School in Israel,

  6  established in 1972, provides high school juniors and seniors

  7  with an 8-week study-in-Israel experience, during which

  8  students have the opportunity to earn six college credits,

  9  with the goal of building young Jewish leaders who are aware

10  of their history and have a vision for their future, and

11         WHEREAS, with over 15,000 alumni throughout North

12  America, the AMHSI is renowned for its dynamic learning

13  environment and faculty, often referred to as one of the best

14  student study programs in Israel, and President of the

15  Alexander Muss High School in Israel Joe Breman describes his

16  school as "unique in its approach at teaching the history of

17  the Jewish people, AMHSI is known for its ability to bring the

18  Jewish history alive," and

19         WHEREAS, AMHSI has been recognized by the President of

20  Israel and the Director General of the Ministry of Education

21  and Culture as the "finest North American high school program

22  in Israel," and is currently expanding its campus to

23  accommodate 350 students in its dormitory environment to

24  enhance the college preparatory experience in which high

25  school students learn in a challenging and independent

26  environment, and

27         WHEREAS, the Alexander Muss High School in Israel will

28  hold its first tribute dinner on March 30, 2000, to honor 14

29  past Greater Miami Jewish Federation presidents and campaign

30  donors for their support of the AMHSI, including Norman

31  Braman, David B. Fleeman, Jonathan I. Kislak, Steven J.

  6  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

  7  Florida:

  9         That the House of Representatives commends the

10  Alexander Muss High School in Israel for providing a unique

11  opportunity for students to learn about their heritage,

12  strengthen their faith, and prepare for the future, and

13  extends sincerest appreciation to those men and women honored

14  at the high school's first tribute dinner for their efforts to

15  establish and enhance the school and the lives of the people

16  they serve.
