13         Amendment (with title amendment) 

14  Remove from the bill:  Everything after the enacting clause

16  and insert in lieu thereof:

17         Section 1.  Paragraph (j) of subsection (4) of section

18  626.2815, Florida Statutes, is amended to read:

19         626.2815  Continuing education required; application;

20  exceptions; requirements; penalties.--

21         (4)  The following courses may be completed in order to

22  meet the continuing education course requirements:

23         (j)  Any course, including courses relating to agency

24  management or errors and omissions, developed or sponsored by

25  any authorized insurer or recognized agents' association or

26  insurance trade association or any independent study program

27  of instruction, subject to approval by the department,

28  qualifies for the equivalency of the number of classroom hours

29  assigned thereto by the department.  However, unless otherwise

30  provided in this section, continuing education hours may not

31  be credited toward meeting the requirements of this section

 1  unless the course is provided by classroom instruction or

 2  results in a monitored examination. A monitored examination is

 3  not required for an independent study program of instruction

 4  that is presented through interactive, on-line technology that

 5  the department determines has sufficient internal testing to

 6  validate the student's full comprehension of the materials

 7  presented.

 8         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.
