  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the Beverage Law; amending

  3         s. 561.422, F.S.; increasing the number of

  4         permits which may be issued to a bona fide

  5         nonprofit civic organization to sell alcoholic

  6         beverages under specified circumstances;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Section 561.422, Florida Statutes, is

12  amended to read:

13         561.422  Nonprofit civic organizations; temporary

14  permits.--Upon the filing of an application and payment of a

15  fee of $25 per permit, the director of the division may issue

16  a permit authorizing a bona fide nonprofit civic organization

17  to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises

18  only, for a period not to exceed 3 days, subject to any state

19  law or municipal or county ordinance regulating the time for

20  selling such beverages. Any such civic organization may be

21  issued only 24 three such permits per calendar year.

22  Notwithstanding other provisions of the Beverage Law, any

23  civic organization licensed under this section may purchase

24  alcoholic beverages from a distributor or vendor licensed

25  under the Beverage Law.

26         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2000.

      Increases from 3 to 24 the number of permits which may be
  4    issued by the Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco
      of the Department of Business and Professional Regulation
  5    to a bona fide nonprofit civic organization during a
      calendar year for the purpose of selling alcoholic
  6    beverages for on-premises consumption only, for periods
      not to exceed 3 days, subject to any state law or
  7    municipal or county ordinance regulating the time for
      selling such beverages.
