1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to public accountancy; amending
3 s. 473.313, F.S.; providing for reinstatement
4 of an individual whose license has become null
5 and void because of failure to comply with
6 reactivation requirements due to illness or
7 unusual hardship; providing for reinstatement
8 standards; amending s. 473.323, F.S.; providing
9 for immediate suspension of a licensee who
10 fails to comply with the terms and conditions
11 of a final disciplinary order; providing an
12 effective date.

14 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

16 Section 1. Subsection (4) is added to section 473.313,
17 Florida Statutes, to read:
18 473.313 Inactive status; reinstatement.--
19 (4) Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 455.271, the
20 board may, at its discretion, reinstate an individual whose
21 license has become null and void if the individual has made a
22 good faith effort to comply with this section but has failed
23 to comply because of illness or unusual hardship. Such an
24 individual must meet standards as the board deems appropriate,
25 including, but not limited to, continuing education and fees.
26 Section 2. Subsection (5) is added to section 473.323,
27 Florida Statutes, to read:
28 473.323 Disciplinary proceedings.--
29 (5) If a licensee fails to comply with the terms and
30 conditions set forth in the final order, the board may
31 immediately suspend the licensee.

1 Section 3. This act shall take effect October 1, 2001.

Provides for reinstatement of a certified public
6 accountant whose license has become null and void because
of failure to comply with reactivation requirements due
7 to illness or unusual hardship. Provides for immediate
suspension of a certified public accountant who fails to
8 comply with the terms and conditions of a final
