  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to workers' compensation;

  3         amending s. 440.24, F.S.; requiring suspension

  4         or revocation of an authorization for an

  5         employer to become a self-insurer under certain

  6         circumstances; requiring sale of certain

  7         securities to satisfy certain orders; providing

  8         an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 440.24, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         440.24  Enforcement of compensation orders;

15  penalties.--

16         (3)  In any case where the employer is a self-insurer

17  and fails to comply with any compensation order of a judge of

18  compensation claims or court within 10 days after such order

19  becomes final, the division shall may suspend or revoke any

20  authorization previously given to the employer to become a

21  self-insurer, and the division shall may sell such of the

22  securities deposited by such self-insurer with the division as

23  may be necessary to satisfy such order.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2001.
