11  Senator Holzendorf moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 116, between lines 11 and 12,
15  
16  insert:  The agency shall modify its cost-reporting system for
17  nursing homes to collect direct and indirect resident care
18  costs. Direct care costs shall include only the salaries and
19  benefits of staff who directly provide care to residents,
20  including registered nurses providing direct care, licensed
21  practical nurses providing direct care, and certified nursing
22  assistants providing direct care. There shall be no cost
23  directly or indirectly allocated to the direct resident care
24  costs from a home office or management company. Indirect costs
25  are resident care costs not directly associated with staff who
26  provide care for residents. On January 1 of each year, the
27  agency shall report to the Legislature direct and indirect
28  care costs, including average direct and indirect care costs
29  per resident per facility and direct care and indirect care
30  salaries and benefits per category of staff member per
31  facility.
