11  The Committee on Local Government & Veterans Affairs offered
12  the following:

14         Amendment (with title amendment) 
15  Remove from the bill:  Everything after the enacting clause
16  
17  and insert in lieu thereof:  
18         Section 1.  Section 196.202, Florida Statutes, is
19  amended to read:
20         196.202  Property of widows, widowers, blind persons,
21  and persons totally and permanently disabled.--
22         (1)  Property to the value of $500 of every widow,
23  widower, blind person, or totally and permanently disabled
24  person who is a bona fide resident of this state shall be
25  exempt from taxation.
26         (2)  For purposes of this section, "totally and
27  permanently disabled person" means a person who is currently
28  certified by one licensed physician of this state, by the
29  United States Department of Veterans Affairs or its
30  predecessor, or by the Social Security Administration to be
31  totally and permanently disabled.

 9                      A bill to be entitled
10         An act relating to ad valorem tax exemption;
11         amending s. 196.202, F.S.; providing
12         certification requirements for a totally and
13         permanently disabled person for purposes of the
14         exemption for property of a widow, widower,
15         blind person, or totally and permanently
16         disabled person; providing an effective date.
