  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to nursing education; amending

  3         s. 464.019, F.S.; requiring approval by the

  4         State Board of Education before the Board of

  5         Nursing may adopt certain rules for nursing

  6         programs; providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Subsection (2) of section 464.019, Florida

11  Statutes, is amended to read:

12         464.019  Approval of nursing programs.--

13         (2)  The board shall adopt rules regarding educational

14  objectives, faculty qualifications, curriculum guidelines,

15  administrative procedures, and clinical training as are

16  necessary to ensure that approved programs graduate nurses

17  capable of competent practice under this part. Proposed rules

18  that adversely affect instructional programs or educational

19  institutions administratively or fiscally must have the prior

20  approval of the State Board of Education.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
