15 page 12, line 18, delete those lines

17 and insert:
18 Section 4. Paragraphs (b) and (f) of subsection (1)
19 and subsection (2) of section 240.40202, Florida Statutes, are
20 amended, present subsection (4) of that section is
21 redesignated as subsection (5), and a new subsection (4) is
22 added to that section, to read:
23 240.40202 Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program;
24 student eligibility requirements for initial awards.--
25 (1) To be eligible for an initial award from any of
26 the three types of scholarships under the Florida Bright
27 Futures Scholarship Program, a student must:
28 (b) Earn a standard Florida high school diploma or its
29 equivalent as described in s. 232.246 or s. 229.814 unless:
30 1. The student is enrolled full time in the early
31 admission program of an eligible postsecondary education

1 institution or completes a home education program according to
2 s. 232.0201; or
3 2. The student earns a high school diploma from a
4 non-Florida school while living with a parent or guardian who
5 is on military or public service assignment away from Florida.
6 The term, "public service assignment," as used in this
7 subparagraph, means the occupational assignment outside
8 Florida of a person who is a permanent resident of Florida and
9 who is employed by the United States Government or the State
10 of Florida, a condition of which employment is assignment
11 outside Florida.
12 (f) Apply for a scholarship from the program by April
13 1 of the last semester before high school graduation. Requests
14 for exceptions to this deadline may be accepted by the high
15 school or district through December 31 following high school
16 graduation. There is no application deadline for a student who
17 graduates from a non-Florida high school pursuant to
18 subparagraph (b)2.
19 (2) A student is eligible to accept an initial award
20 for 3 years following high school graduation and to accept a
21 renewal award for 7 years following high school graduation. A
22 student who applies for an award by April 1 and who meets all
23 other eligibility requirements, but who does not accept his or
24 her award during the first year of eligibility after high
25 school graduation, may apply for reinstatement of the award
26 for use within 7 reapply during subsequent application periods
27 up to 3 years after high school graduation. Reinstatement
28 applications must be received by the deadline established by
29 the Department of Education.
30 (4) Each school district shall annually provide to
31 each high school student a complete and accurate Florida

1 Bright Futures Scholarship Evaluation Report and Key. The
2 report shall be disseminated at the beginning of each school
3 year. The report must include all high school coursework
4 attempted, the number of credits earned toward each type of
5 award, and the calculation of the grade point average for each
6 award. The report must also identify all requirements not met
7 per award as well as identify the awards for which the student
8 has met the academic requirements.
