1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to motor vehicle license
3 plates; amending s. 320.061, F.S.; prohibiting
4 the covering or otherwise obscuring of a
5 license plate in a manner that limits viewing
6 the information contained on the plate;
7 providing a penalty; providing an effective
8 date.

10 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12 Section 1. Section 320.061, Florida Statutes, is
13 amended to read:
14 320.061 Unlawful to alter motor vehicle registration
15 certificates, license plates, mobile home stickers, or
16 validation stickers; unlawful to obscure license plates;
17 penalty.--
18 (1) No person may shall alter the original appearance
19 of any registration license plate, mobile home sticker,
20 validation sticker, or vehicle registration certificate issued
21 for and assigned to any motor vehicle or mobile home, whether
22 by mutilation, alteration, defacement, or change of color or
23 in any other manner.
24 (2) No person may cover or otherwise obscure a license
25 plate in a manner that limits the visibility of the
26 information contained on the plate.
27 (3) Any person who violates the provisions of this
28 section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree,
29 punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
30 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
