17  and insert in lieu thereof:  Beginning July 1, 2001, the State
18  Board of Education shall provide the option to each school
19  that has been in operation for at least 2 years within a
20  school district that is approved for charter school district
21  status to vote within the first year of the approved charter
22  school district status, or if the charter school district was
23  approved prior to July 1, 2001, to vote no later than June 30,
24  2002, to convert to charter school status and upon the vote,
25  as described in s. 228.056(3)(a), to apply for charter school
26  status.
