  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to felony traffic cases;

  3         amending s. 26.012, F.S.; authorizing the chief

  4         judge of a circuit court to transfer all felony

  5         traffic and vessel cases to the county courts

  6         in the circuit; providing exceptions; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (5) is added to section 26.012,

12  Florida Statutes, to read:

13         26.012  Jurisdiction of circuit court.--

14         (5)  The chief judge of a circuit may transfer any or

15  all felony traffic and vessel cases, except those traffic and

16  vessel cases involving or arising out of s. 316.193(3)(c)2.,

17  s. 316.193(3)(c)3., s. 327.35(3)(c)2., or s. 327.35(3)(c)3.,

18  to county courts in the circuit, and the county court shall

19  thereupon have the complete power to exercise such

20  jurisdiction.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.

24                          HOUSE SUMMARY

      Authorizes the chief judge of a circuit to transfer all
26    felony traffic and vessel cases, with described
      exceptions, to the county courts in the circuit and
27    provides that upon such a transfer the county court shall
      have complete jurisdiction to hear such cases. See bill
