1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to voter registration
3 identification cards; eliminating the race or
4 ethnicity designation of a voter on the card;
5 providing an effective date.

7 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

9 Section 1. Subsection (1) of section 97.071, Florida
10 Statutes, is amended to read:
11 97.071 Registration identification card.--
12 (1) A registration identification card must be
13 furnished to all voters registering under the permanent single
14 registration system and must contain:
15 (a) Voter's registration number.
16 (b) Date of registration.
17 (c) Full name.
18 (d) Party affiliation.
19 (e) Date of birth.
20 (f) Race or ethnicity, if provided by the applicant.
21 (f)(g) Sex, if provided by the applicant.
22 (g)(h) Address of legal residence.
23 (h)(i) Precinct number.
24 (i)(j) Signature of supervisor.
25 (j)(k) Place for voter's signature.
26 (k)(l) Other information deemed necessary by the
27 department.
28 Section 2. This act shall take effect January 1, 2002.
