17 and insert in lieu thereof:
18 (7) A minimum of 55 percent of the new awards from
19 funds provided in the General Appropriations Act for
20 fellowships and fee waivers shall be used only to support:
21 (a) Upper-division students or graduate students
22 formally admitted to a degree program in one of the following
23 disciplines:
24 1. Computer and information sciences.
25 2. Engineering.
26 3. Engineering technology.
27 4. Biological sciences/life sciences.
28 5. Mathematics.
29 6. Physical sciences.
30 7. Health professions and related sciences.
31 (b) Upper-division students or master's level students

4 The State University System shall report annually to the
5 Legislature the distribution of fellowships and fee waivers
6 provided, including, but not limited to, the number of awards,
7 the dollar value of the awards, student level, student
8 discipline, and the number and percent of award recipients
9 remaining in the state following graduation who are employed
10 in the field directly related to the discipline for which the
11 award was received.
