  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to water management districts;

  3         amending s. 373.1995, F.S.; eliminating

  4         references to the date of a report that has

  5         been submitted; providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Section 373.1995, Florida Statutes, is

10  amended to read:

11         373.1995  Florida Forever performance measures.--The

12  five water management districts shall jointly provide a report

13  by December 15, 2000, to the Secretary of Environmental

14  Protection, which shall establish specific goals and

15  performance measures that may be used to analyze activities

16  funded pursuant to s. 259.105(3)(a). The report shall, at a

17  minimum, be based on those goals and performance measures

18  identified in s. 259.105(4). The secretary shall forward the

19  report to the Board of Trustees of the Internal Improvement

20  Trust Fund for their approval. After approval by the board of

21  trustees, the secretary shall forward the approved report to

22  the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of

23  Representatives, prior to the beginning of the 2001 Regular

24  Legislative Session, for review by the substantive legislative

25  committee from which the Florida Forever Act originated, or

26  its successor. The Legislature may reject, modify, or take no

27  action relative to the goals and performance measures

28  established by the report. If no action is taken, the goals

29  and performance measures established in the report shall be

30  implemented.

  2  law.
