18 Section 1. Subsection (5) of section 320.08058,
19 Florida Statutes, is amended to read:
20 320.08058 Specialty license plates.--
21 (5) FLORIDA PANTHER LICENSE PLATES.--
22 (a) The department shall develop a Florida panther
23 license plate as provided in this section. Florida panther
24 license plates must bear the design of a Florida panther and
25 the colors that department approves. In small letters, the
26 word "Florida" must appear at the bottom of the plate.
27 (b) The proceeds from the annual use fees shall be
28 distributed to the Florida Panther Research and Management
29 Trust Fund to be used for education and programs to protect
30 the endangered Florida Panther. The department shall
31 distribute the Florida panther license plate annual use fee in

1 the following manner:
2 1. Eighty-five percent must be deposited in the
3 Florida Panther Research and Management Trust Fund in the Fish
4 and Wildlife Conservation Commission to be used for education
5 and programs to protect the endangered Florida panther.
6 2. Fifteen percent, but no less than $300,000, must be
7 deposited in the Florida Communities Trust Fund to be used
8 pursuant to the Florida Communities Trust Act.
9 (c) A person or corporation that purchases 10,000 or
10 more panther license plates shall pay an annual use fee of $5
11 per plate and an annual processing fee of $2 per plate, in
12 addition to the applicable license tax required under s.
13 320.08.
14 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
