  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the "Florida Teacher's

  3         Equity in Compensation Act of 2001"; providing

  4         legislative intent; requiring the Legislature

  5         to appropriate funds to increase the salaries

  6         of instructional personnel to a certain level;

  7         providing an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Instructional personnel compensation.--

12         (1)  This act shall be known and may be cited as the

13  "Florida Teacher's Equity in Compensation Act of 2001."

14         (2)  It is the intent of the Legislature to increase

15  the salaries of instructional personnel, as defined by s.

16  228.041(9), Florida Statutes, to meet or exceed the national

17  average salary of instructional personnel within 3 years.

18         (3)  The Legislature shall appropriate to the

19  Department of Education funds for the purpose of carrying out

20  the provisions of this act.

21         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
