18 Section 19. Effective January 1, 2002, paragraphs (b)
19 and (c) of subsection (1) and subsection (4) of section
20 445.023, Florida Statutes, are amended to read:
21 445.023 Program for dependent care for families with
22 children with special needs.--
23 (1) There is created the program for dependent care
24 for families with children with special needs. This program
25 is intended to provide assistance to families with children
26 who meet the following requirements:
27 (b) The child or children are considered to be
28 children with special needs as defined by the subsidized child
29 care program authorized under s. 402.3015.
30 (c) The family meets the income guidelines established
31 under s. 411.01(6) 402.3015. Financial eligibility for this

1 program shall be based solely on the guidelines used for
2 subsidized child care, notwithstanding any financial
3 eligibility criteria to the contrary in s. 414.075, s.
4 414.085, or s. 414.095.
5 (4) In addition to school readiness child care
6 services provided under s. 411.01 402.3015, dependent care may
7 be provided for children age 13 years and older who are in
8 need of care due to disability and where such care is needed
9 for the parent to accept or continue employment or otherwise
10 participate in work activities. The amount of subsidy shall be
11 consistent with the rates for special needs child care
12 established by the department. Dependent care needed for
13 employment may be provided as transitional services for up to
14 2 years after eligibility for temporary cash assistance ends.
15 Section 20. Effective January 1, 2002, subsections (1)
16 and (2) of section 228.061, paragraph (o) of subsection (4) of
17 section 230.23, sections 230.2303, 230.2305, and 230.2306,
18 Florida Statutes, are repealed.
