15         On page 255, line 15, through page 256, line 3, delete
16  those lines

18  and insert:  
19         (d)  A person holding a certificate as a general
20  radiographer may not perform nuclear medicine and radiation
21  therapy procedures, except as provided herein. A person who is
22  a general radiographer certified pursuant to this part who
23  receives additional training and skills in radiation therapy
24  technology procedures as referenced herein may assist with
25  managing patients undergoing radiation therapy treatments if
26  that assistance is provided to a person registered with the
27  American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in radiation
28  therapy who is also certified pursuant to this part as a
29  radiation therapy technologist. Both the general radiographer
30  and the radiation therapy technologist must perform these
31  radiation therapy services under the general supervision of a

SENATE AMENDMENT Bill No. CS for SB 1558, 1st Eng. Amendment No. ___ Barcode 491306 1 physician licensed under chapter 458 or chapter 459 who is 2 trained and skilled in performing radiation therapy 3 treatments. The radiation therapy technologist identified in 4 this paragraph may not delegate any function to the general 5 radiographer that could reasonably be expected to create an 6 unnecessary danger to a patient's life, health or safety. The 7 general radiographer identified under this paragraph may not, 8 however, perform the following services while assisting the 9 radiation therapy technologist: radiation treatment planning, 10 calculation of radiation therapy doses, administration of 11 radiation therapy doses, or any of the duties of a medical 12 physicist. The general radiographer identified under this 13 paragraph must successfully complete a training program in the 14 following areas before assisting with radiation therapy 15 technology duties: 16 1. Principles of radiation therapy treatment; 17 2. Biological effects of radiation; 18 3. Radiation exposure and monitoring; 19 4. Radiation safety and protection; 20 5. Evaluation and handling of radiographic treatment 21 equipment and accessories; 22 6. Patient positioning for radiation therapy 23 treatment.
