11  Senator Crist moved the following amendment:

13         Senate Amendment (with title amendment) 

14         On page 5, between lines 18 and 19,

15

16  insert:

17         Section 6.  Enterprise zone designation for

18  Hillsborough County.--Hillsborough County may apply to the

19  Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development for

20  designation of one enterprise zone within the county, which

21  zone encompasses a high-crime, low-income, high-unemployment

22  area that is north of Fowler Avenue, south of Bearss Avenue,

23  east of Florida Avenue, west of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, near

24  the University of South Florida, adjacent to University Square

25  Mall, north of a major theme park, an area that has been

26  designated a federal Weed & Seed target area, and a Community

27  Development Block Grant (CDBG) target area and that houses an

28  active public/private 501(c)(3) community development

29  corporation working to improve the area. The application must

30  be submitted by December 31, 2002, and must comply with the

31  requirements of section 290.0055, Florida Statutes.

  1  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 290.0065, Florida

  2  Statutes, limiting the total number of enterprise zones

  3  designated and the number of enterprise zones within a

  4  population category, the Office of Tourism, Trade, and

  5  Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone under

  6  this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

  7  Development shall establish the initial effective date of the

  8  enterprise zone designated under this section.

13         On page 1, line 24, after the semicolon,

15  insert:

16         providing for designation of a specified area

17         within Hillsborough County as an enterprise

18         zone;
