  2         An act relating to the Department of Management

  3         Services; amending s. 287.16, F.S.; revising

  4         language with respect to the powers and duties

  5         of the department; authorizing the department

  6         to contract for the maintenance of motor

  7         vehicles; deleting reference to special purpose

  8         aircraft with respect to an annual report to

  9         the Legislature; providing an effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12

13         Section 1.  Subsections (2) and (10) of section 287.16,

14  Florida Statutes, are amended to read:

15         287.16  Powers and duties of department.--The

16  Department of Management Services shall have the following

17  powers, duties, and responsibilities:

18         (2)  To establish and operate central facilities for

19  the acquisition, disposal, operation, maintenance, repair,

20  storage, supervision, control, and regulation of all

21  state-owned or state-leased aircraft, watercraft, and motor

22  vehicles and to operate any state facilities for those

23  purposes. Acquisition may be by purchase, lease, loan, or in

24  any other legal manner. The department may contract for the

25  maintenance of motor vehicles.

26         (10)  To provide the Legislature annual reports at the

27  end of each calendar year concerning the utilization of all

28  aircraft in the executive pool and special purpose aircraft.

29         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
