  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to continuing dental education;

  3         amending s. 456.031, F.S.; providing an

  4         alternative by which licensees may comply with

  5         a general requirement that they take

  6         domestic-violence education courses; providing

  7         an effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  Subsection (3) of section 456.031, Florida

12  Statutes, is amended to read:

13         456.031  Requirement for instruction on domestic

14  violence.--

15         (3)

16         (a)  In lieu of completing a course as required in

17  subsection (1), a licensee or certificateholder may complete a

18  course in end-of-life care and palliative health care, if the

19  licensee or certificateholder has completed an approved

20  domestic violence course in the immediately preceding

21  biennium.

22         (b)  In lieu of completing a course as required by

23  subsection (1), a person licensed under chapter 466, who has

24  completed an approved domestic-violence education course in

25  the immediately preceding 2 years may complete a course

26  approved by the Board of Dentistry.

27         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
