  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Marion County; prohibiting

  3         watercraft within specified areas of Lake Weir

  4         from proceeding at greater than "no-wake"

  5         speeds; requiring the board of county

  6         commissioners to erect signs; directing the

  7         Marion County Sheriff to enforce the

  8         prohibition; providing penalties; providing an

  9         effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

13         Section 1.  Within 500 feet of the shoreline of Grass

14  Island (state identification 606121) watercraft must proceed

15  at idle speed.  The Marion County Commissioners shall erect

16  signs within the area designated by this act; such signs must

17  contain the prohibition "NO WAKE" and the statement "VIOLATORS

18  WILL BE PROSECUTED." Violation of this act constitutes a

19  noncriminal violation and is punishable as provided in section

20  775.083, Florida Statutes. The Sheriff of Marion County is

21  responsible for enforcing this act.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect October 1, 2001.
