1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to charitable organizations;
3 amending s. 496.407, F.S.; requiring such
4 organizations to make their annual returns
5 available for public inspection; requiring that
6 a notice be published regarding such
7 availability; providing an effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Subsection (4) is added to section 496.407,
12 Florida Statutes, to read:
13 496.407 Financial report.--
14 (4) A charitable organization must make its annual
15 return available for public inspection during a period
16 beginning 10 days after such filing and ending 180 days after
17 the filing. Notice of the availability of the return for
18 inspection must be published by the day it is filed in a daily
19 newspaper of general circulation in the county in which the
20 organization's principal office is located. The notice must
21 state that the return will be available for inspection at the
22 principal office during regular business hours during the
23 period beginning 10 days after the filing and ending 180 days
24 after the filing and must include the address and telephone
25 number of the organization and the name of its principal
26 manager.
27 Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
