  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to pari-mutuel wagering;

  3         amending s. 550.002, F.S.; redefining the term

  4         "full schedule of live racing or games";

  5         providing an effective date.

  7  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  8

  9         Section 1.  Subsection (11) of section 550.002, Florida

10  Statutes, is amended to read:

11         550.002  Definitions.--As used in this chapter, the

12  term:

13         (11)  "Full schedule of live racing or games" means,

14  for a greyhound or jai alai permitholder, the conduct of a

15  combination of at least 100 live evening or matinee

16  performances during the preceding year; for a permitholder who

17  has a converted permit or filed an application on or before

18  June 1, 1990, for a converted permit, the conduct of a

19  combination of at least 100 live evening and matinee wagering

20  performances during either of the 2 preceding years; for a

21  harness permitholder, the conduct of at least 100 live regular

22  wagering performances during the preceding year; for a quarter

23  horse permitholder, the conduct of at least 100 40 live

24  regular wagering performances during the preceding year; and

25  for a thoroughbred permitholder, the conduct of at least 100

26  40 live regular wagering performances during the preceding

27  year. For a permitholder which is restricted by statute to

28  certain operating periods within the year when other members

29  of its same class of permit are authorized to operate

30  throughout the year, the specified number of live performances

31  which constitute a full schedule of live racing or games shall

  1  be adjusted pro rata in accordance with the relationship

  2  between its authorized operating period and the full calendar

  3  year and the resulting specified number of live performances

  4  shall constitute the full schedule of live games for such

  5  permitholder and all other permitholders of the same class

  6  within 100 air miles of such permitholder. A live performance

  7  must consist of no fewer than eight races or games conducted

  8  live for each of a minimum of three performances each week at

  9  the permitholder's licensed facility under a single admission

10  charge.

11         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

12  law.

16    Redefines the term "full schedule of live racing or
      games" to allow 100, rather than 40, wagering
17    performances by quarter horses and thoroughbreds.
