  1                    Senate Resolution No. ____

  2         A resolution congratulating Dr. Dorothy Jackson

  3         Orr on her outstanding achievements.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, Dr. Dorothy Jackson Orr, a native of Fort

  6  Lauderdale, Broward County, Florida, is recognized as a

  7  pioneer and a leader in the community, taking great pride in

  8  being a product of its religious institutions and public

  9  school system, and

10         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr has given service to the local School

11  Board in many capacities for over thirty years, and is

12  presently serving as Deputy Superintendent and Board Liaison,

13  and

14         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr has inspired others throughout the

15  county and state with her active and tireless dedication,

16  believing that education is the mother of all vocations and

17  that it is the responsibility of our education system to

18  prepare each student to be a contributing member of society,

19  and

20         WHEREAS, she has dedicated her life to achieving this

21  goal, and

22         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr is affiliated with several religious,

23  community, social, and professional associations and

24  organizations, and is a keynote speaker, presenter, lecturer,

25  adjunct professor/instructor, consultant, and committee/board

26  member, and has received numerous honors, awards, and

27  recognitions, and

28         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr has a lifelong history of outstanding

29  achievements and contributions to the community, providing

30  improvements in the quality of life to the residents of

31  Broward County, and

  1         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr finds great satisfaction in writing

  2  and public speaking and hopes to continue to help young people

  3  in their development of these skills, and

  4         WHEREAS, Dr. Orr firmly believes that the entire

  5  community has one responsibility in common which must be

  6  fulfilled as a joint endeavor--the education of our children

  7  and youth, NOW, THEREFORE,

  9  Be It Resolved by the Senate of the State of Florida:

10

11         That the Florida Senate congratulates Dr. Dorothy

12  Jackson Orr on her outstanding achievements.

13         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

14  with the Seal of the Senate affixed, be presented to Dr. Orr

15  as a tangible token of the sentiments of the Florida Senate.
