  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to drug-free legislators;

  3         providing legislative intent; providing for

  4         drug screening of members of the Legislature

  5         under certain circumstances; providing criteria

  6         for screenings and treatment; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  (1)  The Legislature intends that members

12  of the Legislature should not expect more of the citizens of

13  this state under the drug-free workplace program than the

14  Legislature expects of its own membership and declares that

15  the Legislature will function as a drug-free workplace.

16         (2)  The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the

17  House of Representatives shall request that each member of

18  their respective house submit to drug testing. A member may

19  make the results of such screening available for public

20  inspection. Any member who tests positive may be referred for

21  treatment. Such drug testing and treatment shall be as

22  provided in s. 112.0455, Florida Statutes, or s. 440.102,

23  Florida Statutes.

24         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

25  law.
