  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the sale of arms to minors;

  3         amending s. 790.18, F.S.; prohibiting a dealer

  4         in arms from selling or transferring a flare

  5         pistol to a minor; providing a penalty;

  6         providing an effective date.

  8  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

  9

10         Section 1.  Section 790.18, Florida Statutes, is

11  amended to read:

12         790.18  Sale or transfer of arms to minors by

13  dealers.--It is unlawful for any dealer in arms to sell or

14  transfer to a minor any firearm, pistol, Springfield rifle or

15  other repeating rifle, flare pistol, bowie knife or dirk

16  knife, brass knuckles, slungshot, or electric weapon or

17  device. A person who violates this section commits a felony of

18  the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s.

19  775.083, or s. 775.084.

20         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.

23                          SENATE SUMMARY

24    Provides that it is a second-degree felony for a dealer
      to sell or transfer a flare pistol to a minor.
