  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to prekindergarten

  3         early-intervention programs; amending s.

  4         230.2305, F.S.; requiring the Florida

  5         Partnership for School Readiness to develop

  6         legislation to expand the prekindergarten

  7         early-intervention program to provide access to

  8         all 4-year-old children at no cost to the

  9         children's parents; requiring a report;

10         providing an appropriation; providing an

11         effective date.

13  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

15         Section 1.  Paragraph (c) is added to subsection (6) of

16  section 230.2305, to read:

17         230.2305  Prekindergarten early-intervention program.--

18         (6)  FUNDING.--

19         (c)  The Florida Partnership for School Readiness, in

20  consultation with the Legislature, shall develop legislation

21  to expand the prekindergarten early intervention program to

22  provide access for all 4-year old children at no cost to the

23  children's parents.  The Florida Partnership for School

24  Readiness shall report its recommendations to the Legislature,

25  in the form of legislation, no later than November 1, 2001.

26         Section 2.  There is hereby appropriated to the Florida

27  Partnership for School Readiness an amount sufficient to carry

28  out the provisions of this act.

29         Section 3.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

30  law.
