  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to the City of Marathon, Monroe

  3         County; authorizing the city to exercise its

  4         police powers and jurisdiction extending 1,200

  5         feet into the tidal waters adjacent to its

  6         established corporate limits; providing an

  7         effective date.

  9  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11         Section 1.  The City of Marathon, Monroe County, is

12  authorized to exercise its police powers and jurisdiction

13  1,200 feet into the tidal waters adjacent to its established

14  corporate limits; however, the exercise of such police powers

15  and jurisdiction beyond the corporate limits of the city shall

16  extend only to the abatement of nuisances, the enforcement of

17  sanitary laws and regulations, the regulation of zoning, and

18  the suppression of crime.

19         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

20  law.
