  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to charter school capital

  3         outlay funding; amending s. 228.0561, F.S.;

  4         requiring procedures developed by the

  5         Commissioner of Education relating to

  6         submission and approval of requests for funding

  7         to provide for district school board input;

  8         providing an effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12         Section 1.  Subsection (4) of section 228.0561, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         228.0561  Charter schools capital outlay funding.--

15         (4)  The Commissioner of Education shall specify

16  procedures for submitting and approving requests for funding

17  under this section and procedures for documenting

18  expenditures. Such procedures shall require the submission of

19  a resolution of the local district school board asserting that

20  the proposed location of the charter school is in the best

21  interest of the school district.

22         Section 2.  This act shall take effect July 1, 2001.
