11  The Committee on General Education offered the following:
12  
13         Amendment (with title amendment) 
14         On page 1, line 20, through page 2, line 3,
15  remove from the bill:  all of said lines
16  
17  and insert in lieu thereof:  
18         (a)  School districts shall donate on a weekly basis,
19  in accordance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines,
20  any surplus or excess canned or perishable foods that would
21  otherwise be discarded to food recovery programs, pursuant to
22  s. 570.0725, or to hunger assistance programs provided through
23  community charities or not-for-profit corporations, including
24  faith-based organizations, which provide for the hungry.
25         (b)  Such donations shall be made pursuant to s.
26  768.136.
27         (c)  School districts in communities with no food
28  recovery or hunger assistance programs are exempt from this
29  subsection.
30         (d)  The State Board of Education shall have the
31  authority to adopt rules pursuant to ss. 120.536(1) and 120.54
