14 On page 26, line 31,

16 insert:
17 Section 20. (1) The Institute of Food and
18 Agricultural Sciences of the University of Florida shall
19 conduct a study, in conjunction with the Department of Health,
20 the University of South Florida Environmental and Occupational
21 Health Department, and wood product trade industry groups,
22 concerning the human health risks, if any, associated with the
23 use of wood products containing chromated copper arzenate
24 (CCA) in public playground equipment purchased with public
25 funds. Such study shall only examine wood products used in
26 public playground equipment, including soils adjacent to such
27 public playground equipment.
28 (2) For purposes of this section, "playground
29 equipment" shall mean swings, slides, climbing equipment,
30 merry-go-rounds, seesaws, spring rockers, trampolines, and
31 other similar equipment, intended for use primarily by

1 children, and shall include stairways, ramps, ladders,
2 handrails, platforms, guardrails, and protective barriers that
3 support, provide access to, or act as safety barriers, for
4 such equipment. It does not include buildings, docks, picnic
5 tables, and other associated structures, which may be located
6 near playgrounds or adjacent recreation areas.
7 (3) The Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences
8 shall issue a report and make recommendations to the President
9 of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives
10 by March 1, 2002.
