16 insert:
17 Section 1. Present subsections (2) through (7) of
18 section 230.055, Florida Statutes, are renumbered as
19 subsections (3) through (8), respectively, a new subsection
20 (2) is added to said section, and present subsection (5) of
21 said section is amended, to read:
22 320.055 Registration periods; renewal periods.--The
23 following registration periods and renewal periods are
24 established:
25 (2) Any motor vehicle that is subject is registration
26 under s. 320.08(1), (2), (3), (4)(a) and (b), (6), (7), (8),
27 (9), (10), and (11) and is owned by person is eligible for an
28 extended registration period which begins the first day of the
29 birth month of the owner and ends the last day of the month
30 immediately preceding the owner's birth month 24 months after
31 the beginning of the registration period. If the vehicle is

1 registered in the name of more than one person, the birth
2 month of the person whose name first appears on the
3 registration shall be used to determine the extended
4 registration period. For a vehicle subject to this extended
5 registration period, the renewal period is the 30-day period
6 ending at midnight on the vehicle owner's date of birth.
7 (6) (5) For a vehicle subject to registration under s.
8 320.08(4), (5)(a)1., (e), (6)(b), or (14), the registration
9 period shall be a period of 12 months, or 24 months if
10 biennial registration, beginning in a month designated by the
11 department and ending on the last day of the 12th month or
12 24th month, if biennial registration. For a vehicle subject
13 to this registration period, the renewal period is the last
14 month of the registration period. The registration period may
15 be shortened or extended at the discretion of the department,
16 on receipt of the appropriate prorated fees, in order to
17 evenly distribute such registrations on a monthly basis.
