  2         An act relating to law enforcement officers;

  3         amending s. 901.252, F.S.; providing authority

  4         to municipal law enforcement officers to patrol

  5         property and facilities leased by the

  6         municipality but located outside its

  7         territorial jurisdiction; providing an

  8         effective date.

10  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11

12         Section 1.  Subsection (1) of section 901.252, Florida

13  Statutes, is amended to read:

14         901.252  Authority to patrol municipally owned or

15  leased property and facilities outside municipal limits;

16  taking into custody outside territorial jurisdiction.--

17         (1)  A duly constituted law enforcement officer

18  employed by a municipality may patrol property and facilities

19  which are owned or leased by the municipality but are outside

20  the jurisdictional limits of the municipality, and, when there

21  is probable cause to believe a person has committed or is

22  committing a violation of state law or of a county or

23  municipal ordinance on such property or facilities, may take

24  the person into custody and detain the person in a reasonable

25  manner and for a reasonable time.  The law enforcement officer

26  employed by the municipality shall immediately call a law

27  enforcement officer with jurisdiction over the property or

28  facility on which the violation occurred after detaining a

29  person under this subsection.

30         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

31  law.
