  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to enterprise zones; creating

  3         s. 290.00695, F.S.; authorizing the Office of

  4         Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development to

  5         designate an enterprise zone within a described

  6         area of Hernando County or of Hernando County

  7         and the City of Brooksville jointly; providing

  8         requirements with respect thereto; providing an

  9         effective date.

11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

12

13         Section 1.  Section 290.00695, Florida Statutes, is

14  created to read:

15         290.00695  Enterprise zone designation for Hernando

16  County or Hernando County and Brooksville.--Hernando County,

17  or Hernando County and the City of Brooksville jointly, may

18  apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic

19  Development for designation of one enterprise zone within the

20  county, or within both the county and the city, which zone

21  encompasses an area up to 10 contiguous square miles starting

22  north of the City of Brooksville with properties within the

23  Gregg Mine Industrial Park; those lands located on the east

24  side of Cobb Road south of Yontz Road to the intersection of

25  Jefferson Street and State Road 50; lands adjacent to the

26  State Road 50 Bypass east to the intersection of Jefferson

27  Street and State Road 50 in the southeast area of the City of

28  Brooksville; those lands encompassing the areas north and

29  south of Summit Road from Hale Avenue to the west, east to

30  Jefferson Street; lands adjacent to U.S. Route 41 from the

31  State Road 50 Bypass south to the proposed Ayers Road

  1  Extension; those lands encompassing the Hernando County

  2  Airport east of U.S. Route 41 west to the Suncoast Parkway

  3  with Spring Hill Drive and Powell Road to the north including

  4  portions along Spring Hill Drive east and west of the

  5  intersection with California Street; and those lands adjacent

  6  to Anderson Snow Road and Corporate Boulevard known as Holland

  7  Springs Industrial Park. The application must be submitted by

  8  December 31, 2001, and must comply with the requirements of s.

  9  290.0055. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065

10  limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and

11  the number of enterprise zones within a population category,

12  the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may

13  designate one enterprise zone under this section. The Office

14  of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development shall establish

15  the initial effective date of the enterprise zone designated

16  under this section.

17         Section 2.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

18  law.
