8 requirements with respect thereto; creating s.
9 290.00696, F.S.; authorizing the Office of
10 Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development to
11 designate an enterprise zone in Calhoun County;
12 providing requirements with respect thereto;
13 creating s. 290.00697, F.S.; authorizing the
14 Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
15 Development to designate an enterprise zone in
16 Okaloosa County; providing requirements with
17 respect thereto; providing an effective date.

19 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
20
21 Section 1. Section 290.00695, Florida Statutes, is
22 created to read:
23 290.00695 Enterprise zone designation for Hernando
24 County or Hernando County and Brooksville.--Hernando County,
25 or Hernando County and the City of Brooksville jointly, may
26 apply to the Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
27 Development for designation of one enterprise zone within the
28 county, or within both the county and the city, which zone
29 encompasses an area up to 10 contiguous square miles starting
30 north of the City of Brooksville with properties within the
31 Gregg Mine Industrial Park; those lands located on the east

1 side of Cobb Road south of Yontz Road to the intersection of
2 Jefferson Street and State Road 50; lands adjacent to the
3 State Road 50 Bypass east to the intersection of Jefferson
4 Street and State Road 50 in the southeast area of the City of
5 Brooksville; those lands encompassing the areas north and
6 south of Summit Road from Hale Avenue to the west, east to
7 Jefferson Street; lands adjacent to U.S. Route 41 from the
8 State Road 50 Bypass south to the proposed Ayers Road
9 Extension; those lands encompassing the Hernando County
10 Airport east of U.S. Route 41 west to the Suncoast Parkway
11 with Spring Hill Drive and Powell Road to the north including
12 portions along Spring Hill Drive east and west of the
13 intersection with California Street; and those lands adjacent
14 to Anderson Snow Road and Corporate Boulevard known as Holland
15 Springs Industrial Park. The application must be submitted by
16 December 31, 2001, and must comply with the requirements of s.
17 290.0055. Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065
18 limiting the total number of enterprise zones designated and
19 the number of enterprise zones within a population category
20 and s. 290.0058 setting forth pervasive poverty, unemployment,
21 and general distress criteria, the Office of Tourism, Trade,
22 and Economic Development may designate one enterprise zone
23 under this section. The Office of Tourism, Trade, and Economic
24 Development shall establish the initial effective date of the
25 enterprise zone designated under this section.
26 Section 2. Section 290.00696, Florida Statutes, is
27 created to read:
28 290.00696 Enterprise zone designation for Calhoun
29 County.--Calhoun County may apply to the Office of Tourism,
30 Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one
31 enterprise zone within an area in Calhoun County. The

1 application must be submitted by December 31, 2001, and must
2 comply with the requirements of s. 290.0055, except subsection
3 (3). Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065 limiting
4 the total number of enterprise zones designated and the number
5 of enterprise zones within a population category, the Office
6 of Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may designate one
7 enterprise zone under this section. The Office of Tourism,
8 Trade, and Economic Development shall establish the initial
9 effective date of the enterprise zone designated under this
10 section.
11 Section 3. Section 290.00697, Florida Statutes, is
12 created to read:
13 290.00697 Enterprise zone designation for Okaloosa
14 County.--Okaloosa County may apply to the Office of Tourism,
15 Trade, and Economic Development for designation of one
16 enterprise zone within an area in Okaloosa County, which zone
17 encompasses an area up to 10 square miles. The application
18 must be submitted by December 31, 2001, and must comply with
19 the requirements of s. 290.0055, except subsection (3).
20 Notwithstanding the provisions of s. 290.0065 limiting the
21 total number of enterprise zones designated and the number of
22 enterprise zones within a population category, the Office of
23 Tourism, Trade, and Economic Development may designate one
24 enterprise zone under this section. The Office of Tourism,
25 Trade, and Economic Development shall establish the initial
26 effective date of the enterprise zone designated under this
27 section.
28 Section 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
29 law.
