  1                      A bill to be entitled

  2         An act relating to Broward County, Florida;

  3         amending chapter 2000-475, Laws of Florida;

  4         providing for deannexation of certain lands

  5         from the Town of Davie; providing for

  6         annexation of certain lands into the Town of

  7         Southwest Ranches; providing for the transfer

  8         of all public roads and rights-of-way on the

  9         Broward County Road System lying within the

10         corporate boundaries of the Town of Southwest

11         Ranches as of June 6, 2000; excluding certain

12         portions of Sheridan Street and Griffin Road

13         from the transfer; providing for confirmation

14         of corporate existence of the Town of Southwest

15         Ranches on June 6, 2000; providing for

16         retroactive application; providing an effective

17         date.

19  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

20

21         Section 1.  The lands contained in the following legal

22  description are hereby deannexed from the Town of Davie,

23  Florida:

24

25         Tract 'A; of "SOUTH BROWARD DRAINAGE DISTRICT"

26         according to the plat thereof as recorded in

27         Plat Book 144, Page 12 of the Public Records of

28         Broward County, Florida.

  1  Said Lands situate, lying and being in the Town of Davie,

  2  Broward County, Florida, and containing 580.591 square feet

  3  (13.331 acres) more or less.

  4         Section 2.  Section 1 of chapter 2000-475, Laws of

  5  Florida, the Charter of the Town of Southwest Ranches, is

  6  amended to add to the legal description of lands within said

  7  municipality contained in Section 1.03, the legal description

  8  of lands contained in section 1 of this act.

  9         Section 3.  All public roads and the public

10  rights-of-way associated therewith on the Broward County Road

11  System lying within the limits of the Town of Southwest

12  Ranches, hereinafter "Town," as described in Section 1.03 of

13  the Charter of the Town of Southwest Ranches and as enacted

14  pursuant to section 1 of chapter 2000-475, Laws of Florida,

15  are transferred, effective as of June 6, 2000, from Broward

16  County jurisdiction to the jurisdiction of the Town, except

17  for those portions of Sheridan Street lying within the limits

18  of the Town and Griffin Road lying within the limits of the

19  Town east of State Road No. 25 (U.S. 27).   All rights,

20  titles, interests, and responsibilities for any transferred

21  roads, including, but not limited to, the ownership,

22  operation, maintenance, planning, design, and construction of

23  said roads, and to the rights-of-way associated therewith,

24  shall transfer from Broward County jurisdiction and ownership

25  to the jurisdiction and ownership of the Town of Southwest

26  Ranches effective as of June 6, 2000.

27         Section 4.  Notwithstanding any provision of chapter

28  2000-475, Laws of Florida, or any other prior enacted law to

29  the contrary, the municipal existence of the Town of Southwest

30  Ranches shall be recognized as of June 6, 2000.

  1         Section 5.  This act shall take effect upon becoming a

  2  law.
