2 An act relating to Pinellas County; providing
3 for the composition of members of the Pinellas
4 County Tourist Development Council appointed
5 pursuant to section 125.0104, Florida Statutes,
6 the "Local Option Tourist Development Act";
7 providing a contingent effective date.

9 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

11 Section 1. Pinellas County Tourist Development
12 Council; composition.--Notwithstanding the provisions of
13 section 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, the Pinellas County
14 Tourist Development Council as established by Pinellas County
15 ordinance pursuant to section 125.0104, Florida Statutes, the
16 "Local Option Tourist Development Act," shall be composed of
17 10 members who shall be appointed by the Pinellas County Board
18 of County Commissioners. The chair of the Pinellas County
19 Board of County Commissioners or any other member as
20 designated by the chair shall serve on the council. Three
21 members of the council shall be elected municipal officials,
22 one of whom shall be from the most populous municipality in
23 Pinellas County, and at least one of whom shall be from among
24 the cities of Belleair Beach, Belleair Shore, Indian Rocks
25 Beach, Indian Shores, Madeira Beach, North Redington Beach,
26 Redington Beach, Redington Shores, St. Pete Beach, and
27 Treasure Island. Six members of the council shall be persons
28 who are involved in the tourist industry and who have
29 demonstrated an interest in tourist development, of which
30 members, not less than three nor more than four shall be
31 owners or operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle

1 parks, or other tourist accommodations in the county and
2 subject to the tax. All members of the council shall be
3 electors of the county. The changes in the composition of the
4 membership of the Pinellas County Tourist Development Council
5 mandated by this act shall not cause the interruption of the
6 current term of any person who is a member of the Pinellas
7 County Tourist Development Council on October 1, 2001. Except
8 as specifically provided herein, the provisions of section
9 125.0104(4)(e), Florida Statutes, shall apply to the Pinellas
10 County Tourist Development Council.
11 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
12 law.
