1 A bill to be entitled
2 An act relating to Hillsborough County;
3 providing that, notwithstanding any provision
4 of general law, the Hillsborough County Tourist
5 Development Council shall consist of 11
6 members; providing that the chair of the county
7 governing board, or a designee, serves on the
8 council; providing that an elected municipal
9 official shall be appointed to the council from
10 each municipality within the county; providing
11 that seven members shall be persons involved in
12 the tourist industry; providing that the
13 additional members shall be appointed within 30
14 days of the effective date of this act;
15 providing that terms of current members are not
16 interrupted by change to council composition;
17 providing an effective date.

19 Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:

21 Section 1. Hillsborough County Tourist Development
22 Council; composition.--Notwithstanding any provision of
23 general law, the Hillsborough County Tourist Development
24 Council shall consist of 11 members. The Chair of the
25 Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners or any other
26 member as designated by the chair shall serve on the Council.
27 The governing board of Hillsborough County shall appoint an
28 elected municipal official from each municipality within the
29 county to the council. The governing board of the county
30 shall also appoint seven members to the council who are
31 persons involved in the tourist industry and who have

1 demonstrated an interest in tourist development, of which not
2 less than three nor more than four shall be owners or
3 operators of motels, hotels, recreational vehicle parks, or
4 other tourist accommodations in the county and subject to a
5 tourist development tax. The additional municipal and
6 industry members shall be appointed within 30 days after the
7 effective date of this act. The changes in composition of the
8 membership of the Hillsborough County Tourist Development
9 Council mandated by the act shall not cause the interruption
10 of the current term of any person who is a member of the
11 Hillsborough County Tourist Development Council on the
12 effective date of this act.
13 Section 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a
14 law.
