  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution recognizing the Governor's High

  3         School All-Stars.

  4

  5         WHEREAS, in introducing the Governor's High School

  6  All-Stars program, Governor Jeb Bush commented, "It is

  7  important for our state to recognize the many high school

  8  students throughout Florida who are doing all the right

  9  things," and

10         WHEREAS, starting with the 1999-2000 school year, one

11  high school junior from each of Florida's public school

12  districts has been chosen annually by a panel comprised of not

13  less than one teacher, one administrator, one parent, one

14  community leader, and two high school seniors who will be

15  charged with the task of determining which students among the

16  state's many fine young people best exemplify excellence of

17  character based on academic success, good behavior, leadership

18  skills, and service to their community, and

19         WHEREAS, the Governor's High School All-Stars for

20  2000-2001 and the school districts they represent are as

21  follows: Christopher Olson, Alachua County; Terrence Blake

22  Iverson, Baker County; Caleb Phillips, Bay County; Heather

23  Whytsell, Bradford County; Erin Riley, Brevard County; Torey

24  Alston, Broward County; Joni Goodman, Calhoun County; Matthew

25  Hipps, Charlotte County; Chester Wheeler, Citrus County;

26  Matthew Stephen Gill, Clay County; Jeremy Richard Martin,

27  Collier County; John Raymond Woodley, Jr., Columbia County;

  1         That the House of Representatives enthusiastically

  2  endorses Governor Jeb Bush in his recognition of the

  3  outstanding young people designated as the Governor's High

  4  School All-Stars for 2000-2001, congratulates them on

  5  possessing the qualities of character which have led to their

  6  selection, and wishes them utmost success in the years to

  7  come.

  8         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  9  be presented to each High School All-Star as a tangible token

10  of the sentiments expressed herein.
