1 House Resolution
2 A resolution honoring the Florida National
3 Guard and designating April 3, 2001, as
4 "Florida National Guard Day."

6 WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard is the military arm
7 of the Governor and the people of the great State of Florida,
8 and
9 WHEREAS, whenever there is a crisis or an emergency,
10 the Florida National Guard stands ready to immediately respond
11 to a call from the Governor, and
12 WHEREAS, the citizens of Florida can always be assured
13 that, when called to protect their lives and property, the
14 Florida National Guard will respond, prepared to accomplish
15 any task or mission, and
16 WHEREAS, the Florida National Guard deployed on January
17 26, 2001, for Operation Swift Suppression to fight wildfires
18 throughout the great State of Florida, and
19 WHEREAS, elements of the 1-111th Aviation Attack
20 Helicopter Battalion deployed on July 6, 2000, for 9 months in
21 the continued defense of the nation of Kuwait, and
22 WHEREAS, with the approach of the 2001 hurricane
23 season, the Florida National Guard is richly deserving of
24 recognition for its success in the past as its soldiers and
25 airmen stand ready to meet any crisis in the future, NOW,
26 THEREFORE,

28 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
29 Florida:

1 That the House of Representatives recognizes the true
2 and faithful service of the soldiers and airmen of the Florida
3 National Guard.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the House of
5 Representatives recognizes the significant contributions and
6 consistent readiness of the Florida National Guard by
7 designating April 3, 2001, as "Florida National Guard Day" in
8 the State of Florida.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
10 be presented to Major General Ronald O. Harrison, Adjutant
11 General of Florida, as a tangible token of the sentiments
12 expressed herein.
