1 House Resolution
2 A resolution recognizing the efforts of Thomas
3 B. Mack in compiling the Florida Citrus
4 Archives.

6 WHEREAS, since 1948, Florida Southern College, under
7 the capable direction of Professor Thomas B. Mack, has been
8 developing an archive of the Florida citrus industry, and
9 WHEREAS, this collection of materials relating to the
10 state's citrus industry, which consists of historical records,
11 photographs, maps, books, crate labels, documents, and the
12 like, now includes thousands of items that will be of use to
13 future generations interested in the development of the
14 industry in Florida, and
15 WHEREAS, Florida Southern College is committed to
16 maintaining the Florida Citrus Archives as a part of its
17 campus and teaching program, and to granting free access to
18 anyone who desires to know more of the history of the Florida
19 citrus industry, and
20 WHEREAS, inasmuch as the Florida citrus industry, and,
21 to a great extent, the economy of the state, benefit directly
22 and indirectly from the archiving of these records, it is
23 appropriate that Professor Thomas B. Mack be recognized for
24 his efforts in developing this valuable resource, NOW,
25 THEREFORE,

27 Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
28 Florida:

30 That the House of Representatives recognizes the
31 Florida Citrus Archives, housed at Florida Southern College,

1 in Lakeland, as the official archives of the Florida citrus
2 industry.
3 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that it is the desire of the
4 Florida House of Representatives that the Florida Citrus
5 Archives be dedicated to Professor Thomas B. Mack as an
6 expression of genuine gratitude for his efforts in overseeing
7 the development of this important source of information
8 relating to the state's citrus industry.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
10 be presented to Thomas B. Mack as a tangible token of the
11 sentiments expressed herein.
