  1                         House Resolution

  2         A resolution honoring Florida veterans.

  3  

  4         WHEREAS, of the almost 1.7 million veterans who call

  5  Florida home, over 500,000 are from World War II, 300,000 are

  6  from the Korean War, and almost 500,000 are from the Vietnam

  7  War, and

  8         WHEREAS, throughout our nation's history, on home soil

  9  and in foreign lands, on the seas and in the skies, our brave

10  young men and women have risked and often sacrificed their

11  lives so that others may enjoy America's legacy of freedom,

12  and

13         WHEREAS, it is incumbent upon those of us now enjoying

14  those freedoms to remember and honor the courageous sons and

15  daughters, brothers and sisters, fathers and mothers, and

16  grandfathers and grandmothers who, in the eloquent words of

17  President Abraham Lincoln, "gave the last full measure of

18  devotion" for the well-being of their beloved country, NOW,

19  THEREFORE,

21  Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of

22  Florida:

23  

24         That the House of Representatives recognizes with deep

25  gratitude the unselfish, dedicated service provided to our

26  state and nation by the valiant men and women of our armed

27  forces.

28         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, in its every deed and

29  action, the House of Representatives will endeavor to continue

30  demonstrating its appreciation for their sacrifices.

  1         BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution

  2  be presented to Lieutenant Colonel Robin L. Higgins, Executive

  3  Director of the Department of Veterans' Affairs, as a tangible

  4  token of the sentiments expressed herein.
